University of Missouri men's basketball opens the holiday weekend with an in-state matchup against Lindenwood Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.
PROMOTIONS
• The Tigers are joining the Fight for Literacy and hosting a book drive around Wednesday's game.
• Fans are encouraged to bring gently-used books that will be collected at the main entrance of Mizzou Arena and then donated to Heart of Missouri United Way.
• From 4 to 6 p.m., a special price of $2.99 is available for beers in the northeast corner of Mizzou Arena.
• Fans can also take advantage of a special ticket promo with four tickets for just $24.
• Following the game, fans can receive free entry with their basketball ticket to the MU volleyball match that starts at 7 p.m. at Hearnes Center.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
• Missouri owns a 5-1 record through six games of the 2024-25 campaign – winning its last five and the last three by 35-plus points.
• Graduate student Caleb Grill leads MU with 15.5 points per game and 21 made 3-pointers.
• Overall, four Tigers score in double figures with Tamar Bates (13.0), Mark Mitchell (12.3) and Anthony Robinson II (10.3) following Grill's lead.
• Robinson also leads Mizzou with 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals, while Josh Gray has a team-best 4.8 rebounds per game.
• The Tigers rank ninth nationally with a scoring offense of 91.7 points per game, 45th with scoring defense of 63.3 and 11th with a scoring margin of +28.3.
ABOUT THE LIONS
• Lindenwood owns a 2-4 record through six games, coming off a 77-64 setback at Valparaiso.
• Three Lions are scoring in double figures – Jadis Jones (12.5), Anias Futrell (12.3) and Markeith Browning II (11.7).
• Jadis also leads the team with 6.8 rebounds, while Browning has a team-best 2.5 assists.
• The Lions average 70.7 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
• The schools are meeting for just the second time with the first matchup two seasons ago – an 82-53 win for the Tigers inside Mizzou Arena.
• Kobe Brown led Mizzou with 13 points and nine boards, while the Tigers held the Lions to just 26.8 percent shooting in the winning effort.
MIZZOU VERSUS OVC
• Missouri is 41-1 all-time against schools in the Ohio Valley Conference, including a 40-1 mark in Columbia.
• In the last two seasons, the Tigers are a perfect 5-0 versus the conference, winning their five contests by an average of 17.0 points.
TIGERS ON FIRE
• Missouri has dominated its last three opponents, cruising to a trio of big victories.
• The Tigers have outscored their last three foes by an average of 52.0 points (104.7 to 52.7).
• With each of the victories by at least 35 points, it marks the first time Mizzou has accomplished the feat in three-straight games.
LET. CALEB. GRILL.
• The man behind Mizzou's strong start, especially as of late, is Caleb Grill.
• In the last four games, Grill is averaging 21.8 points – shooting 68.3 percent from the field (28-41) and 67.7 percent from three (21-31).
• In fact, over the four-game span, Grill is averaging 2.12 points per field goal attempt.
• Grill is the first Tiger in the last 20 seasons to make 21 made triples in a four-game span.
• Overall, Grill leads Mizzou with 15.5 points per game this season, shooting 58.8 percent from the field and 55.3 percent from 3-point range.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE FROM ROBINSON
• Anthony Robinson II can do it all for MU this year.
• Robinson is coming off his first collegiate double-double, recording a complete stat line with 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
• Overall, Robinson leads MU with 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals this season, while also ranked fourth with 10.3 points and second with 4.7 rebounds.
GETTING TO THE LINE
• One notable difference for MU early in the season is its ability to get to the free-throw line.
• Mizzou ranks third nationally with 31.0 attempts from the free throw line per game and eighth in the country with 22.0 made per game.
• The Tigers have increased their attempts by 12.8 per game from a season ago when they ranked last in the SEC with 18.2 per game.
• Mizzou is also seventh nationally with a free-throw rate (FTA/FGA) of 52.7 percent.
HIGH MARKS
• Mizzou is getting high marks for its shooting ability in 2024-25.
• The Tigers rank 20th nationally with a field goal percentage of 51.0, while placing 19th with an effective field goal clip of 59.2.
• Overall, Mizzou has made at least 45 percent of its field goals in all six games this season and at least 50 percent in three of the contests.
• Last season, MU made 50 percent of its field goals in just 4-of-32 games.
