MU will host NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, NCAA Cross Country Regional in Columbia in 2027.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The NCAA has chosen the University of Missouri Department of Athletics to serve as the host institution for multiple NCAA postseason events in 2027, the organization announced Wednesday. Mizzou Athletics will host the 2027 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis and the 2027 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Regionals in Columbia at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
"We are incredibly excited and honored to be selected as hosts for these marquee NCAA events," Mizzou Director of Athletics Laird Veatch said. "This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our student-athletes, our facilities and our incredible university on a national stage. Our commitment to hosting elite competitions aligns with our broader mission to provide a first-class experience for both our student-athletes and fans. We look forward to welcoming competitors from across the country to Columbia and St. Louis in the coming years."
The 2027 Wrestling Championships will return to Enterprise Center in St. Louis, one of the nation's most vibrant sports cities. Mizzou has previously served as the host school for the NCAA Wrestling Championships nine times in St. Louis, most recently in 2021, and twice in Kansas City, including this past season.
"This is exciting news! The city of St. Louis takes pride in hosting NCAA championship events as they have in the past with hockey, gymnastics, basketball and, of course, the wrestling championships," Mizzou wrestling coach Brian Smith said. "This will be the 10th time St. Louis and Mizzou have co-hosted the NCAA Wrestling Championships. This is always a premier event because of the commitment from the St. Louis Blues, Enterprise Center, the St. Louis Sports Commission, Mizzou and the great people of St. Louis."
Since opening in 2019, Columbia's Gans Creek Cross Country Course has become one of the premier facilities in the country. The course hosted the Southeastern Conference Championships in 2021 and the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional in 2022. In 2025, Mizzou will serve as the host school for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at Gans Creek.
"We are thrilled to showcase our world-class cross country facility at both the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships and now the 2027 NCAA Regional event," Mizzou track and field head coach Brett Halter said. "It is an honor to represent our sport at the national level. We hope to continue building Gans Creek Cross Country Course as the premier destination for our sport."
"This event will bring thousands of people to our destination to stay in our hotels, dine in our restaurants and shop in our stores," said Amy Schneider, director of the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau. "These contributions to our local economy support local businesses and jobs here in Columbia while also demonstrating the value of local partnerships with our stakeholders."
