Track and Field Heads West for Mt. SAC Relays

The Tigers will be in action Thursday through Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri track and field team will travel west to Walnut, Calif., to compete in the Mt. Sac Relays starting Thursday. The Tigers will have a multitude of men's and women's athletes competing in both running and field events across the event.

MT. SAC RELAYS

  • Mitch Weber, who currently owns the second-farthest discus throw in Missouri history at 60.99m/200-1, will compete in the same event this week.
  • Rece Rowan, who additionally owns a top-10 program mark in the discus throw at 56.77m/186-3 (ninth-best), will also join Weber in the event.
  • Alicia Burnett, the current holder for the sixth-fastest 100m run in Missouri history at 11.74s, will race in the same event.
  • Kelsey Schweizer, holding the ninth-best time in program history at 2:07.09, will compete in the 800m dash.
  • Kaia Harris (56.93m/186-9), Sophia Rivera (55.75m/182-11) and Ames Burton (54.17m/177-8) — who all own top-10 women's discus throws in Missouri history — will compete in the same event once again.
  • Sydney Oberdiek (62.99m/206-8) and Carolina Daza (59.15m/194-0), who own the fifth and seventh-longest women's hammer throw marks in program history, respectively, will additionally lead the Tigers in the event once more.
  • Rivera, who also holds the longest women's javelin throw in Missouri outdoor history, will lead the Tigers in the event.
  • Valentina Bornacelli (56.00m/183-9), Atina Kamasi (52.53m/172-4) and Erin Zimmerman (49.75m/163-3) — top-10 program placeholders in the women's javelin — will also join Rivera in the competition.

LAST TIME OUT: KT WOODMAN CLASSIC

  • Oberdiek won the women's hammer throw with a 59.51m/195-3 distance.
  • Daza (58.97m/193-6) and Petra Gombas (55.75m/182-11) finished in second and third in the hammer throw, respectively.
  • Harris won the women's discus throw with a 54.69m haul, with Emily Offenhesier finishing behind her in second with a 53.80m throw — good enough for fifth-best in program history.
  • Kamasi won the women's javelin with a personal-best mark of 50.61m.
  • Austin Popplewell ran a personal best in the men's 1500m, finishing in 4:02.63 and placing fourth overall.
