BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Elys Ventura was announced as a member of the 2022 SEC Community Service Team in a release published by the SEC earlier this morning.
Ventura committed over 28 hours of service to the Columbia community, with most of her time being spent alongside the organization, Girls On The Run (GOTR). GOTR was the team's philanthropic focus for the season, and Ventura was the designated leader for organizing activities with the group.

"Elys has a diverse portfolio of community service for the 2021-2022 academic year. Girls on the run was our focus this year as a team. We have completed over 50 hours of service with Girls on the Run and Elys has spearheaded that effort as our team captain and member of SAAC" head coach Chris Wootton said. "Her dedication and commitment to the COMO community is admirable and makes Elys a valuable asset to the Mizzou Athletics family."
The SEC Community Service Team was created to recognize student-athletes for their accomplishments outside the field of competition. Ventura is just the eighth tennis player to receive the award after Marta Oliveira was nominated in 2020.
