Women's Basketball Begins Preseason Play Against Northwest Missouri State

The exhibition matchup is slated for 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Mizzou Arena

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women's Basketball will open the 2022-23 season with an exhibition matchup against Northwest Missouri State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Mizzou Arena. The game will be broadcast on KTGR.

The meeting is the first of two preseason contests as the team will also face Rogers State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Missouri is 35-1 in exhibition matchups dating back to the 1999-00 season with an average margin of victory of 30.6 points.

The Tigers posted a 2-0 record in preseason contests a year ago with victories over Lindenwood and Southwest Baptist.

Missouri concluded last season with an 18-13 overall record and an appearance in the WNIT. The postseason berth was the ninth for the program under Head Coach Robin Pingeton who enters the new campaign with a 541-323 career record including a 181-130 record since arriving in Columbia, Mo.

The exhibition will provide a first glimpse at the reloaded Tigers' roster. Missouri returns nine athletes from a season ago and will have three players with three or more years of experience in the program.

Senior Hayley Frank, a veteran presence on the team, was named to the preseason All-SEC Second Team last week. The Strafford, Mo. native led all returning Tigers in points, field goals, 3-pointers and blocks a season ago.

Graduate transfer Katlyn Gilbert and freshmen Averi Kroenke and Ashton Judd will look to bolster the rotation. Arriving from Notre Dame, Gilbert brings a wealth of collegiate experience. She was a member of the 2019-20 All-ACC freshmen team after averaging 13.6 points and 2.6 assists.

The two preseason tilts will prep the Tigers for their home opener at Missouri State at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7.
