Vilches Posts World's Top High Jump Mark

Day two of the invitational will continue at 11 a.m. Saturday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Missouri Track & Field junior Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) highlighted day one of competition at the Razorback Invitational with his world and NCAA-leading high jump of 2.26m (7'-5").
The Tigers competed in five field events and two running events on the opening day of the meet.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Vilches' leap of 2.26m captured the high jump title at the Razorback Invitational. The mark is also the top in the NCAA and the world this year. With his jump, Vilches also tied the Razorback Invitational meet record, the Mizzou school record and his own personal best.
Ayele Gerken (Doerentrup, Germany) finished fourth in the women's long jump, setting a PR of 6.00m (19-8 ¼). With this jump, Gerken also tied for seventh in Mizzou's top-10 indoor record book.
UP NEXT
Mizzou rounds out competition tomorrow at the Razorback Invitational. The action begins at 11 a.m. with the men's 3000m run. Field events will begin at 1 p.m. with the women's shot put.
