Track & Field Sets Four Program Top-10 Marks at Cyclone Open

Three Tigers set all-program indoor records at the first meet of the season

AMES, Iowa — Missouri Track & Field finished a one-day competition at Iowa State Saturday, as three Tigers set top-10 marks in Mizzou's indoor records and 11 set personal bests.

NOTABLE FINISHES

In the women's weight throw, redshirt senior Emily Stauffer (Reinholds, Pa.) captured a third-place finish and set a new personal best of 19.02m (62-5), breezing past her previous record of 18.28 (59-11 ¾). Stauffer also placed second in women's shot put with a throw of 15.58m (51-1 ½). 

Redshirt junior Mitch Weber (Saint Clair, Minn.) had a strong performance with a second-place finish in the men's weight throw, setting a new personal best of 19.65m (64- 5 ¾). Weber rounded out the day with a second-place finish in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.58m (51-4 ¾). He was closely followed by sophomore Rece Rowan (Colorado Springs, Colo.) who placed third in the men's shot put with a 15.84m (51-11 ¾) throw.

In the women's one mile, the two Missouri top-finishers both set personal records. Redshirt senior Melissa Menghini (Fenton, Mo.) placed second in the race with a time and personal best of 4:41.70. Redshirt junior Reilly Revord (Hinsdale, Ill.) came in eighth overall, setting a personal record of 4:57.45.

Three women made it into the top 10 of Mizzou's indoor record book. With her 19.02m (62-5) weight throw, Stauffer takes eighth in program history in the indoor women's weight throw. Menghini moves into sixth place all-time in the women's indoor one mile with her time of 4:41.70. Redshirt senior Savannah Nevels (Streetsboro, Ohio) set ninth place records in both the women's 200m dash and the women's 60m dash with times of 24.94 and 7.71 respectively.

UP NEXT

The Tigers will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Arkansas Invitational. It will be the first of two visits to the Tyson Indoor Track Center. The two-day meet will begin on Friday, Jan. 28, and finish Saturday, Jan. 29.
