Mizzou Swimming's Danny Kovac Named to 2021-22 U.S. National Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Danny Kovac was named to the 2021-22 USA Swimming National team, the organization announced on Friday.
The 2021-22 USA Swimming National Team features the top six athletes in each individual Olympic event based on combined results of all USA Swimming or FINA sanctioned competitions.
Kovac was the sixth-fastest American in the 100 fly in 2021, posting a personal-best 51.61 in Wave II of the 2020 Olympic Trials. He ultimately finished eighth at the trials with a time of 52.68 in the finals.
In the 2020-21 season at Mizzou, Kovac earned first-team All-America honors in the 100 fly with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships, setting the Mizzou school record with a time of 44.66. Kovac also earned first team All-America honors in the 200 IM and the 400 medley relay and All-America honorable mentions in the 200 fly and 400 free relay. He also holds the Mizzou school records in the 200 fly (1:41.14) and 200 IM (1:41.35).
Kovac finished second in the 100 fly at the 2021 SEC Championships and won the 100 fly title at the 2020 SEC Championships.
