Steelman earns the honor heading into NCAA Regionals next week
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf redshirt sophomore Ross Steelman (Columbia, Mo.) was named Second-Team All-SEC as announced by the Southeastern Conference office Friday morning. The Columbia native joins 16 others with the honor which was recently voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
The announcement comes just days before Steelman tees off as the No. 1 individual seed at the NCAA Regional tournament in Noblesville, Indiana. This marks just the fourth Tiger in program history to be awarded All-SEC and the first since previous star Hayden Buckley ('18) earned the first-team honor in 2018.
Steelman's first full season as a Tiger was highlighted by capturing his second-career win at the Missouri Tiger Invitational where he fired a career-low 16-under 200 which ultimately earned him the title of SEC Newcomer of the Week. His consistent showing allowed him to lead the team in six of the eight events during the 2020-21 campaign, anchored by his season tally of 14 rounds and five events under par.
