No. 15 Mizzou Softball Hosts No. 3 Florida for Final Home Series

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Fresh off a Top-Ten series win over then-No. 8/6 Arkansas, No. 15 Mizzou Softball will take on No. 3 Florida in the final home series of the regular season. Saturday's game will be a "Gold Rush" game as fans will receive free gold T-Shirts. Sunday's game will be the Tigers' annual Pink game and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
The Tigers are currently tied for third in the SEC with No. 4 Alabama, trailing only Florida and Arkansas. Mizzou has never finished higher than third in the SEC regular season.
Friday and Sunday's games will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus while Saturday's game will air on SEC Network. Mark Neely and Madison Shipman will be on the call for Saturday's game.
Mizzou has attained the program's highest ranking since the 2015 season at 15th in both the NFCA and USA Softball polls.
Freshman shortstop Jenna Laird continues to pile up the accolades. On Thursday, Laird was named a Schutt Sports/NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 30 Finalist. This season's list included both 2020 and 2021 freshmen. During the 2021 season, Laird has been named SEC Player of the Week three times. She is second in the SEC with a .433 batting average.
Mizzou is 4-12 all-time against Florida. The last time the two programs met in a three-game series, the Gators swept the Tigers in Columbia during the 2018 season. The last time Mizzou won a series over Florida was in the 2014 season in Gainesville.
Casidy Chaumont has played a key role for the Tigers in left field since returning to the lineup during the Auburn series. Chaumont is batting .409 in SEC play with nine extra base hits and 12 RBI in 15 games. Against Arkansas, Chaumont batted .500 in the series with a double, a triple, two RBI and one run scored. The Louisiana-native wowed in the outfield, making two spectacular catches in Saturday's game.
Kendyll Bailey has stepped up her game in SEC play. The redshirt-junior is batting .367 in SEC play with four doubles and five home runs. Defensively, she has been the leader for the Tigers at second base. She has been perfect from the field in SEC play, and she has only made one error on the season.
Freshman Pitcher Laurin Krings impressed in relief against Arkansas. Over the course of two appearances, Krings totaled 6.2 innings, no hits, no runs, no walks and seven strikeouts. She earned her first SEC win during Sunday's 10-1 victory.
