Mizzou Drops Rubber Match to Georgia

Tigers fall 9-4 as Bulldogs get two big innings

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball (12-25, 5-13 SEC) fell 9-4 to Georgia (26-13, 9-9 SEC) in the series finale on Sunday at Taylor Stadium.

Georgia raced to a 4-0 advantage in the top of the first, using a base-clearing, two-out double to provide the big blow. Mizzou battled back with a run in the second and a pair in the third to close within 5-3. The Bulldogs responded with another four-run inning in the sixth, building a 9-3 advantage.

Freshman Trevor Austin launched his second home run of the season in the seventh inning to bring the final score to 9-4.

"We're right in there, it's just that we're making some mistakes with some guys that shouldn't be making those mistakes. We've been playing a fairly older lineup that has played the game for a while and they don't have a lot of experience, but I think we get caught up in the emotion and caught up in the game without really staying locked in and then something bites us."
