Mizzou scattered six hits during the game
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mizzou Baseball (11-18, 4-7 SEC) held an early lead but No. 11 South Carolina (20-9, 7-4 SEC) used big fifth and sixth innings to even the series with an 11-1 win on Saturday afternoon at Founders Park.
Starter Spencer Miles was stellar through his first four innings of work, surrendering just two hits and striking out five batters. He came into some trouble the following two innings, giving up the go-ahead home run in the fifth and exiting with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. South Carolina would score six times in the sixth to take control of an otherwise tight ballgame.
Six different Tiger starters grabbed a base knock in the contest, highlighted by Torin Montgomery's double to lead off the fourth inning. He eventually came around to score on a wild pitch for Mizzou's lone run on the afternoon.

Hear from the Skipper
Head coach Steve Bieser on Saturday's contest…
"It was the big inning that gave it away for us. We could have competed very well offensively, but it's really tough to win a ballgame in that situation. We have to do better about eliminating that big inning."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Three Tigers extended hitting streaks in the loss: senior Mark Vierling (six games), junior Joshua Day (four games) and sophomores Torin Montgomery (four games)
- Sophomore Ty Wilmsmeyer reached for the sixth consecutive game he's played
