COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer forward Madilyn Hamline was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her performance against Kansas State, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.
Against Kansas State, Hamline scored her first and second career goals. The freshman from Liberty, Mo. put the Tigers up 2-0 by stealing a clearance attempt by the opposing goalkeeper and putting it in the back of the net.
For her second goal, Hamline put the Tigers up 3-1 by swinging the ball in from the wing and finding the net. The freshman is the third Tiger to record a brace in the 2020-21 season, joining Cassidy Nurnberger and Bella Alessi. She also played a career-high 59 minutes in the game, firing six shots, three of which were on goal.
Hamline nearly completed the hat trick, as her shot in the second overtime period deflected off the crossbar, nearly giving the Tigers the win.
The freshman has made two starts in her 11 appearances on the season. In the second appearance of her career, Hamline collected her first career point on an assist vs. LSU (10/16). She has seen her role increase in the spring matches and she has taken advantage of it firing 10 shots in the four game with five on goal.
