Mizzou Soccer Plays to a Draw with Kansas State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer jumped out to an early lead against Kansas State, but was unable to put the Wildcats away in the closing minutes. After two overtime periods, the game ended in a 3-3 draw.
Right off the bat, forward Julissa Cisneros put the Tigers on top with a goal in the sixth minute. Jadyn Easley found a streaking Cisneros and, despite the pass being deflected, Cisneros was able to corral it and put it just underneath the crossbar in the top-left corner.
The Tigers were not done in the first half. In the 32nd minute, Madilyn Hamline added the first goal of her collegiate career. The Kansas State goalkeeper failed to clear it and Hamline was able to gather it and put it in the net to give Mizzou at 2-0 lead.
At the half, Mizzou led 2-0 and outshot the Wildcats 7-1 in the first 45 minutes. Mizzou goalkeeper Bella Alessio was not tested in the first half.
The Wildcats were able to get on the board early in the second half. In the 58th minute, Kansas State took one off the lead to narrow the margin. The next 20 minutes were a back-and-forth affair.
The Tigers were able to deal a painful blow to Kansas State's hopes in the 81st minute as Madilyn Hamline took a pass from Julissa Cisneros and fired it into the top-right corner of the goal from the left side of the box.
TURNING POINT
With the Tigers leading 3-1 with just over nine minutes remaining, Kansas State turned up the pressure. The Wildcats responded quickly with a cross that fell to a Wildcat attacker, who shot into an open net.
Leading 3-2 with just under eight minutes remaining, Mizzou looked to burn out the remainder of the clock. With under a minute to play, Kansas State was able to break free and find the equalizer to send the game to extra time.
In extra time, neither team was able to drive one home. Madilyn Hamline nearly was able to complete the hat-trick and give the Tigers the win, but her shot deflected off of the crossbar.
TOP TIGERS
Madilyn Hamline was the star of the game for Mizzou. The freshman added the first two goals of her collegiate career.
Julissa Cisneros set the tone for the Tigers early. The savy forward had a highlight-reel goal to start the game before adding an assist on a Hamline goal.
NOTES
Madilyn Hamline is the third Tiger to have a multi-goal game on the season, and the first in the spring.
Julissa Cisneros moves takes sole possession of 10th on the Mizzou goals list with the 20th of her career.
Cisneros had a season-high four shots on goal.
