COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's swimming program qualified five Tigers to the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the NCAA announced on Wednesday (March 10).
Juniors Jack Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.), Jack Dubois (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Danny Kovac (Fort Collins, Colo.), sophomore Ben Patton (Wichita, Kan.) and freshman Daniel Wilson (Norman, Okla.) will represent the Tigers at the Championships, held March 24-27, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
Missouri is also eligible to swim all five relays: the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.
Mizzou's divers will vie for NCAA Championship bids at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, March 11-13, in Lexington, Ky.
Kovac earned the third individual invitation of his career with bids in three different events. He enters the meet seeded third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 100 fly and 10th in the 200 fly. At the recent Southeastern Conference Championships, Kovac set school records in all three of those events en route to runner-up finishes in the 100 fly and 200 IM and a third-place showing in the 200 fly.
Also claiming his third NCAA Championships individual berth was Dahlgren, who qualified in the 200 free, 100 back and 200 back. He is seeded 20th in the 200 free, 24th in the 100 back and 29th in the 200 back. Dahlgren posted a pair of top eight performances at last month's SEC Championships, where he took fifth in the 200 free and eighth in the 200 back.
Dubois received the second invite of his Tiger career with a bid in the 400 IM. The junior, who also qualified as a freshman in 2019, nabbed the 20th seed in the 400 IM after a personal-best swim of 3:43.98 at SECs that earned him fifth at the meet. Dubois can also compete in the 1650 free and 500 free, where he placed seventh and 10th, respectively, at SECs.
Patton nabbed the first NCAA berth of his career with individual bids in both the 100 breast and 200 IM, where he enters the meet seeded 18th and 32nd, respectively. The sophomore, who can also swim the 200 breast at NCAAs, set a pair of personal-bests at the SEC Championships, placing third in the 100 breast and 10th in the 100 IM.
Also earning a bid was Wilson, who claimed the invite in his first season of collegiate swimming. The freshman qualified for the Championships in both the 100 fly and 100 free, where he is seeded 26th and 31st, respectively.
