COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's swimming team notched an NCAA 'A' cut in the 800 free relay to open competition Tuesday at the 2021 Southeastern Conference Men's Swimming Championships at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo. The meet, which runs through Friday, Feb. 26, will determine a team champion by adding the men's swimming team scores to the diving results from last week's SEC Diving Championship.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Mizzou ended the night with a fourth-place finish in the 800 free relay. The quartet of freshman Frederik Rindshøj (Søborg, Denmark), juniors Jack Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.), Jack Dubois (Alpharetta, Ga.) and senior Grant Reed (Austin, Texas) touched in 6:17.02, an NCAA 'A' cut and the fifth-fastest time in program history.
The Tigers also notched a sixth-place performance in the 200 medley relay, as Dahlgren, sophomore Ben Patton (Wichita, Kan.) and juniors Danny Kovac (Fort Collins, Colo.) and Kyle Leach (Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted a season-best 1:24.42.
QUOTABLES
Mizzou head coach Andrew Grevers
"What great momentum to finish tonight's session. We had some big lifetime bests for some individuals in the 800 free relay. We're going to ride that momentum into tomorrow morning."
