COLUMBIA, Mo. — One point shy of a career night, junior Kobe Brown led the Missouri men's basketball team with 20 points on an 8-of-11 shooting performance against Kansas City. Brown also contributed four rebounds and a block in the Tigers, 80-66, loss to Kansas City Monday evening. Mizzou moves to 1-1 on the season.
It was the second game of Brown's career with 20+ points. Ronnie DeGray III added his second-consecutive game with double-digit scoring, notching 14 points. Amari Davis led the Tigers on the glass, tying a game-high seven rebounds.
"Sometimes those painful lessons you have to go through. We went through it." said head coach Cuonzo Martin. "This is not casual basketball. You have to respect your opponent because anybody can beat you. We didn't play at the level we're capable of playing at."
Kansas City (1-2) went up early in the game and held the lead for a majority of the contest. The Roos capitalized on several turnovers, converting 20 points off turnovers. The Tigers were unable to close the nine-point halftime deficit, despite an 8-0 run in the second half.
