COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Southeastern Conference and the University of Missouri will serve as host of the 2021 SEC Cross Country Championships Friday at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. This marks the first time Missouri has served as host of the SEC Cross Country Championships, and the meet will be televised live on the SEC Network.

Mizzou will run 19 athletes, 10 on the men's side and nine on the women. Both teams will compete against Southeastern foes including Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Kentucky, Auburn, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M. Last year, the men finished in sixth in the SEC with the women in seventh, with five men in the top-50 and three women.

This year's men's 8K race is scheduled for 10:05 a.m. CT, while the women's 6K race will start at 11 a.m. CT. An awards ceremony will follow the women's race. Admission to the 2021 SEC Cross Championships at Gans Creek is free and open to the public.

Leading the women will be senior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England), coming off a Tiger lead in Madison. Chapman is looking to build off her second-place finish at the 2021 Gans Creek Classic and recreate her personal best, sub-20 minute 6k at 2020's SEC Championships. Similarly, sophomore Jenna Schwartz (waterloo, Ill.) recorded her 6k personal best at Nuttycombe and looks to perform again on Friday.

On the men's side, the down-under duo consisting of sophomore Mitchell Small (Christchurch, New Zealand) and freshman William Sinclair (Tauwhare, New Zealand) look to lead the men again, after doing so in Madison. Sinclair, after finishing second in the Gans Creek Classic with his record 8k time of 23:36.5, looks to replicate a successful home performance at SEC Championships.

Coverage of the SEC Cross Country Championships begins at 10 a.m. CT on the SEC Network. Official results will be available at pttiming.com.
