Aijha Blackwell Garners Preseason All-SEC Second Team Honors

Blackwell averaged a double-double for the Tigers last season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mizzou Women's Basketball junior guard Aijha Blackwell has earned Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Second Team honors in a vote by the league's coaches on Tuesday.

In a highly impressive sophomore campaign Blackwell averaged 14.5 points and 11 rebounds in 28.8 minutes per game. Blackwell became just the fifth player in school history to average a double-double and the first since 1997-98 to earn Second Team All-SEC honors last season.

Among SEC ranks Blackwell finished first in defensive rebounds (8.4), third in rebounding (11.0), 12th in field goal percentage (.471) and 17th in scoring (14.5). The Berkely, Mo., native recorded a career-best 13 double-doubles last season which ranked fourth in the SEC and 21st nationally.

Along with Blackwell earning Preseason Second Team All-SEC honors, Mizzou was picked to finish 10th in the SEC by the league's coaches.
