Terblanche will have immediate eligibility this spring
COLUMBIA, MO. – Mizzou Men's Golf head coach Mark Leroux announced the addition of sophomore transfer Michael Terblanche (Hilton, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) from McNeese State University on Friday. Terblanche is immediately eligibly and bolsters the Tigers' deep roster heading into the 2021 spring campaign.
"Michael has a proven track record in Division I golf and his experience will have an immediate impact on our program," head coach Mark Leroux. "We're really excited to have him join the team and represent Mizzou."
Before the 2019-20 season was cut short, Terblanche put together a strong campaign, posting a 72.6 scoring average. He recently claimed Second Team All-Louisiana honor, notching three rounds of par or better. One of those included carding a career-low 65 in the second round at the Nicholls La Tour Intercollegiate on Feb. 17, 2020.
Before his time at McNeese State, Terblanche began his collegiate golf career at Hofstra. As a freshman, he competed in a total of seven events and finished with the team's third-best scoring average. Firing a season-low round of 74 at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate, he tied for 15th place, which marked his season-best finish.
Terblanche's prep career took place at Hilton College in South Africa where he played golf, rugby and cricket. He steered his golf team to becoming Kwa Zulu Natal School champions in 2016, while also being awarded Provincial honors in 2016 and 2017.
Terblance and Mizzou launch the spring campaign on Feb. 12 at the Gator Invitational. For all the latest on Mizzou's Men's Golf, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @MizzouMensGolf.
