Mizzou Baseball Heads Back On The Road At No. 18 Florida

Columbia, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball (11-20, 4-8 SEC) travels Gainesville, Fla. to face off against No. 18 Florida (19-8, 6-3 SEC) in a three-game SEC series at the new Florida Ballpark.

The each of the three games of the series, set for Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT, Saturday at noon CT and Sunday at 11 a.m. CT, will air on SEC Network +.

 Fans can also tune-in to KTGR (105.1 FM, 100.5 FM, 1580 AM) to catch the Tigers throughout the entire 2021 season with Tex Little and Matt Michaels on the call.

PROBABLE PITCHERS

FRIDAY: RHP Seth Halvorsen (3-1, 6.27 ERA) vs. RHP Franco Alemán (1-1, 3.58 ERA)

SATURDAY: RHP Spencer Miles (1-6, 7.43 ERA) vs. RHP Tommy Mace (4-0, 3.00 ERA)

SUNDAY: RHP Zach Hise (0-4, 6.75 ERA) vs. LHP Hunter Barco (4-2, 5.22 ERA)

THE MATCHUP

• The all-time series sits at 4-23 in favor of Florida

• The Tigers last faced the Gators in the 2019 regular season finale at Taylor Stadium.

• Friday will begin the second consecutive SEC road series for the Black and Gold. The Tigers have won at least one road SEC matchup in each of its conference road series this season

MARK IS MASHING

• In three seasons at Mizzou, senior Mark Vierling had one home run to his name. In 2021, he's lifted three long balls including two in his last five games.

• Vierling has seen a return to form at the plate in recent games, hitting .353 in the last five and .400 over the weekend at South Carolina.

• The second baseman has scored a team-leading 19 runs on the season, six of which have come in the past five games.

TORIN DELIVERS AGAIN

• Sophomore Torin Montgomery has found his stride at the plate, hitting .474 in the last five games.

• The first baseman is 9-for-19 with three doubles and a homer in those five games. He's also tied for the team lead

during the stretch with four RBI.

• In the last 10 games Mizzou has played, Montgomery owns a team-best .423 average and eight RBI.

• Montgomery has hit in each of the six games he has played.

FRIDAY NIGHT W

• Mizzou picked up its first Friday night SEC win of the year over the weekend at South Carolina.

• After his strong start against Texas A&M, Seth Halvorsen slid to the opening starter role and kept Mizzou in the

contest with four innings of two-run baseball.

• The Tigers finally broke through in the fifth on a two-out, bases-clearing double from freshman Garrett Rice.

Lukas Veinbergs dazzled in five scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn his first win of the year and continue a

string of impressive outings. The righty struck out five Gamecocks.

• Senior Brandt Belk turned in a three double performance to score twice and drive in another.

HALVORSEN BRINGS THE HEAT

• Not only did redshirt sophomore Seth Halvorsen hit triple digits on the radar gun in his game two start against Texas A&M, the right-hander also put together his best start in a Mizzou uniform.

• After surrendering a two-run homer in the third inning, Halvorsen allowed just a single in finishing out a career-long 7.0 innings of work.

• Halvorsen fanned a career-best 10 Aggies while walking just three in his 111-pitch outing.

• Friday's stellar day against the Aggies marked Halvorsen's second quality start in three SEC appearances this season. He allowed just three runs in 6.0 innings at Kentucky on March 20.
