Tigers claim prestigious academic award for second consecutive season
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball has been named a recipient of the 2019-20 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, announced Wednesday by the organization.
Mizzou is only one of 65 Division I programs to receive the high academic honor. Additionally, the Tigers are only one of two programs in the Southeastern Conference to accomplish the feat.

Mizzou flourished in the classroom this past school year, led by an outstanding 3.36 team GPA in the spring 2020 semester at the University of Missouri. It marked the Tigers' highest spring semester total in nearly two decades. Individually, 34 of the team's 40 total players exceeded a 3.0 GPA.
The Tigers opened their recent academic calendar with a 3.03 cumulative GPA in the fall 2019 semester, marking the first time they produced consecutive 3.0-plus GPA fall semesters since 2011-12.
Countless Tigers were recognized for their academic prowess in 2019-20, highlighted by 16 recipients on the 2020 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll and eight honorees on the 2019-20 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Under head coach Steve Bieser's first four years at the helm of Mizzou Baseball, the Tigers have enjoyed unprecedented success in the classroom. Last year, Mizzou was only one of 50 Division I programs to garner the same ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award.
Programs from every level of college and high school baseball were recognized with this year's ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a grade point average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2019-20 academic year.
