
Mizzou Soccer Adds Transfer Goalkeeper Bella Alessio

Sophomore from South Dakota will have three years of eligibility
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer has bolstered the program's depth in net with the addition of Bella Alessio, the program announced today. Alessio transfers into the program from South Dakota with three years of eligibility remaining, and she is eligible immediately.
"We are beyond excited to welcome Bella to our Mizzou Soccer family," head coach Bryan Blitz said. "She is a fierce competitor and brings a work ethic that fits right in with what's important in our program. We look forward to her contributions this fall."

Alessio spent the 2019 season at South Dakota, where she made 11 appearances as a goalkeeper. As a true freshman she made nine starts, and went 4-3-1. She posted shutouts against Purdue Fort-Wayne, North Dakota State and Northern Colorado.

Being a Mizzou Tiger means I will be playing with some of the most exceptional athletes, in a fantastic conference with the SEC. "I cannot wait to suit up next to my teammates in the Black and Gold."
Against UIC, Alessio made a career-high 11 saves in 102:10 in goal, facing an onslaught of 21 shots. She also logged five saves in three games, including making two in the second overtime period against Oral Roberts in the season finale to maintain a draw.
On the season she made 42 saves, and her 1.17 goals against average ranked fifth in the Coyotes record book for a single season.
A native of Channahon, Ill., Alessio played attended Minooka Community High School. She posted 30 shutouts in 58 contests on the prep level, earning Southwest Prairie Conference honors. On the club level, she led NSA Shock to a national championship.
