Beijer leads the way and is tied for 11th heading into final round
Panama City Beach, Fla. – Two rounds of play are in the books for the Mizzou Women's Golf Team at the 2020 Florida State Match Up, and the Tigers stand in eighth place after day one, with a 36-hole team score of 632. Fellow SEC member LSU leads the 10-team field at 592, followed by host Florida State in second at 603, and Alabama in third at 612. After an opening-round 320 score, the Tigers improved by eight shots in the afternoon round, coming in at 312.
Mizzou is just three shots behind Kansas State for seventh place (629), and they find themselves only four shots behind head-to-head playing partner Coastal Carolina, which is in sixth place with a 628 tally. The final 18 holes will be played Sunday at 8:00 a.m. (central time) on the Nicklaus Course at Bay Point Golf Club (Par 72, 6,290 yards).
Junior Noelle Beijer (Assendelft, The Netherlands) led the way for Mizzou on Saturday, shooting rounds of 75 and 77 for a 152 total that left her in a tie for 11th place individually heading into Sunday. Freshman Bri Bolden (Mokena, Ill.) stands in 32nd place with a 158 total through two rounds, and she rebounded nicely in the afternoon to fire a four-over par 76, after a morning round 82.
"It was a tough day for the whole field out there," said Beijer. "My main focus of both rounds was staying positive and giving myself lots of birdie and par looks. I was playing steady golf all day, nothing too crazy. I'm beyond excited for the final round and can't wait for us to drop some spots tomorrow," she said.
Senior Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) was next for the Tigers, shooting rounds of 82 and 78 for a 36-hole 160 total that put her in a tie for 39th overall. Otter opened the day with an 82, but was four shots better in the second round. Sophomore Keagan Dunn (Braselton, Ga.) toured her two rounds in a total of 163, shooting scores of 82 and 81 on the day to stand tied for 43rd, while freshman Sophia Yoemans (Red Wing, Minn.) is tied for 50th individually after rounds of 81 and 84.
