Columbia, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf looks to welcome two newcomers to the roster next season head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer announced earlier this month. Hallie Kuhns (Austin, Texas) and Isabela Cuisana (Quito, Ecuador) both signed on the dotted line for their National Letters of Intent to play at Mizzou next year.
"Hallie is from one of the strongest golf states in the country, Texas. She has competed in some of the biggest junior events and has had success at a high level. Isabela has a lot of international experience and will bring a tremendous amount of positive energy to our program," said head coach Priesmeyer. "We are looking forward to bringing both players into our program next fall."
Kuhns enters her collegiate career with four American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Top-5 finishes under her belt from the 2019 and 2020 seasons. She has also been a standout while representing Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas., where she secured a pair of first place individual titles at the Lakeapalooza and the Viper Classic, in addition to leading the team to nine first place finishes. She carried the charge into the post-season as well, helping the team claim second place finishes in in the 25-6A District Championship, 4-6A Regional Championship and 6A State Championship.
Since starting her prep career, she has improved her scoring average by 7 strokes, currently sitting with a 71.8. Kuhns was also named Most Valuable Freshman, Most Improved Player as a sophomore and Most Valuable Player as a junior.
Kuhns chose Mizzou over Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt and Tulane University.
"I feel like Mizzou will be the best place for me to grow as a person and an athlete," said Kuhns. "I really like the coaches and feel comfortable around the girls on the team. I grew up being a Mizzou fan because my family used to live in Columbia and I currently have grandparents living in Columbia."
Cuisana joins Mizzou ranked nationally in the Top-3 and a member of the national Ecuadorian team for six consecutive years. She is currently the highest Ecuadorian woman ranked in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, standing at No. 708 with a total of five wins and 11 Top-10 finishes in WAGR events.
The Junior Ecuadorian Champion is also a two-time Junior Vice Champion, as well as having placed fifth in the South American Junior Championship in Lima, Peru. To highlight her prep career, Cuisana carded her lowest round at the Arrayanes National Open in 2019 with a 5-under 67.
"All the resources that Mizzou offers are ideal for my personal and athletic growth and will allow me to become a better student, golfer and person," said Cuisana. "Mizzou's golf coaches were a great influence and motivation to continue with my athletic career under their support and great team."
