
Mizzou Men’s Golf Welcomes Icelandic Standout Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson for 2021 Recruiting Class

Icelandic junior champion signed National Letter of Intent to attend Mizzou
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf added Icelandic junior champion Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson(Reykjavik, Iceland) to the 2021 recruiting class, inking a National Letter of Intent to play for the Tigers, head coach Mark Leroux announced on Monday.
"Dagbjartur is a very talented golfer that will add another layer of strength and depth to our lineup. His success at a high level is already impressive and we're excited to have him represent Mizzou for the next four years," said head coach Mark Leroux.
Sigurbrandsson, a member of the Icelandic National team, joins the Tigers after an impressive prep career. He has eight wins on the Icelandic Junior Golf Tour and two on the Men's Tour – one of which he became the youngest in history to win – in addition to nine Top-10 finishes. He is a two-time winner of both the Icelandic Junior Match Play Championship ('17, '20) and the Icelandic Stroke Play Championship ('17, '18).
Most recently, in June 2020, Sigurbrandsson carded his career-low round in a tournament, firing a 9-under 63. Currently ranked No. 592 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, he carries with him a season scoring average of 71.8.
Sigurbrandsson joins fellow Reykjavik, Iceland native, sophomore Viktor Einarsson, on the team.
