LAST TIME OUT

  • Mizzou Soccer claimed their third victory in a row as the Tigers downed the 13th-seeded Gators 2-1 on Sunday night.
  • With the win, the Tigers are on to their sixth SEC Soccer Tournament quarterfinals in eight appearances.
  • Mizzou started off dominating possession and pace which was converted into an early goal in the 17th minute. Macy Trujillo picked up her third goal of the season as the senior midfielder skillfully outmaneuvered a Florida defender and sent the ball under the keeper for Mizzou's first score.
  • The Gators responded in a matter of minutes, however, as Florida claimed possession against the run of play and dribbled around a charging Isabella Alessio to score on an empty net in the 21st minute.
  • After the flurry of early goals, the tempo of the match slowed, and a defensive battle ensued as neither side was able to break through until late in the second half.
  • Finally, in the 72nd minute, a long ball sent in from Zoe Cross was settled in the box off the head of Macy Trujillo. As Trujillo's header rolled toward goal, Bella Alessi raced in to tap the ball over the diving Florida keeper, sending it into the top left corner of the net, sealing the Mizzou victory.
  • For the remaining 18 minutes of action, the Tiger defensive stood strong, thwarting each and every Gator attack.
  • Mizzou has now picked up two decisive wins against Florida in the span of seven days. That mark doubles the amount of wins the Tigers previously held against the Gators all-time.
