COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis will continue the fall portion of its schedule with a doubleheader against Central Arkansas on Friday, Oct. 30. The Tigers and Bears are scheduled to play at 10:30 a.m. CT and 2:30 p.m. CT in Conway, Ark.
Mizzou is coming off a highly successful showing at the ITA Central Regional, where junior Bronte Murgett (Holmfirth, Great Britain) captured the singles championship on Sunday in Fayetteville, Ark. The title was the first ITA regional championship in program history and completed a 6-0 performance at the tournament for the junior Tiger. Murgett show great resiliency in her semifinals and finals victories, as she dropped the first set in each match before coming back to win the final two sets to earn victories.
Joining Murgett with successful showings at the ITA Regional was senior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) and sophomore Elys Ventura (Aukland, New Zealand), who each advanced to the round of 16, marking the first time in program history Mizzou has sent three individuals to the round of 16.
Friday's doubleheader will be the last fall event on the calendar for Mizzou, who will then be off until Saturday, Jan. 23 when the Tigers open the spring schedule with a doubleheader against Murray State on Saturday, Jan. 23.
