Tigers claim the honor for second straight week after 2-0 weekend for Mauller
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling sophomore 149-pounder Brock Mauller (Columbia, Mo./Father Tolton High School) is the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week, announced Wednesday (Jan. 29) by the league office. Mauller went 2-0 last weekend with a pair of major decisions, helping Mizzou clinch a share of the MAC regular season title, the program's ninth straight season with a conference championship.
Mauller is the second Tiger in as many weeks to earn the award as his classmate 157-pounder Jarrett Jacques (Columbia, Mo./Father Tolton High School) took home the award last week. Mauller is the third different Mizzou grappler to take home the award this season.
Ranked sixth nationally by FloWrestling.org, Mauller won a pair of MAC bouts to help Mizzou clinch a share of its ninth straight conference title and eighth straight in the MAC. He won both of his bouts over the weekend via major decision, first with a 10-1 win over McCoy Kent of Northern Illinois with 2:12 of riding time. Mauller followed his NIU win with a dominant 14-4 major decision over Gus Sutton of Cleveland State, piling up 3:25 of riding time.
Mauller is 20-1 on the season, joining Jacques as the only two Tiger starters over 20 wins. He has 20+ wins in back-to-back seasons as well.
