2018-19 Academic All-District At-Large Teams: Men | Women
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three members of the Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving programs earned spots on the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Seniors Kylie Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.) and Annie Ochitwa (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) were named to the Women's At-Large Team, while junior Daniel Hein (Sycamore, Ill.) earned a spot on the Men's At-Large Team.
Selected by CoSIDA members, the Academic All-District® distinction is given to student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic accomplishments. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 (on a scale of 4.00), have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
All three Tigers now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
Ochitwa recently concluded her collegiate career as a 15-time All-American, with four first team and 11 honorable mention honors to her name. At the 2019 NCAA Championships, she garnered five honorable mention accolades, including individual finishes of ninth in the 100 fly and 10th in the 100 free. She also swam on Mizzou's All-America honorable mention 200 free, 400 free and 200 medley relays, and earned All-Southeastern Conference second team honors for her performance at the 2019 SEC Championships.
In her first season at Missouri after transferring from Arizona, Ochitwa claimed one first team and three honorable mention All-America honors as a junior in 2017-18, including an eighth-place finish in the 100 fly at the Championships. She ended her Tiger career as Mizzou's record holder in the 100 free, ranked second in the 50 free and 100 fly, fifth in the 200 free and seventh in the 100 back.
Dahlgren was a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, with individual bids in her junior and senior seasons. She qualified in both the 100 back and 200 IM this past season, and posted finishes of 28th in the 200 back and 29th in the 200 IM at the Championships in March. Dahlgren also earned points for Mizzou at the 2019 SEC Championships, where she placed 14th in the 200 IM, 15th in the 400 IM and 19th in the 200 back. She concluded her career ranked third all-time at Mizzou in the 200 IM, fourth in the 400 IM, sixth in the 200 back and seventh in the 100 back.
A two-time NCAA Championships qualifier as well, Hein is a four-time All-American for the Tigers, with three first team and one honorable mention accolades. As a junior in 2018-19, he swam on Mizzou's seventh-place 400 medley relay and 15th-place 200 medley relay at NCAAs. Hein also posted finishes of 19th in the 200 back and 22nd in the 100 back at the meet. He earned All-SEC first team honors this year after swimming on Mizzou's SEC champion 400 medley relay, which was the first men's relay in program history to win a conference title. Hein holds Mizzou's 100 back school mark, while ranking fourth in both the 200 back and 100 fly.
