Men’s DMR team posts runner-up finish
DES MOINES, Iowa – Mizzou Track & Field wrapped up competition at the Drake Relays Sunday, as the men's distance medley relay team posted a runner-up finish. The squad's finish was one of four top-five finishes on the day for Mizzou, as redshirt junior Jordan McClendon (Black Jack, Mo.) finished third in the hammer throw, while sophomore Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) and junior Caulin Graves (Kansas City, Mo.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100m dash.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Mizzou's men's DMR squad provided the highlight of the final day of the Drake Relays, as freshman Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria), redshirt freshman Jayson Ashford (Fairview Heights, Ill.), redshirt sophomore Robert Kuhlmann (Lake Villa, Ill.) and redshirt junior Thomas George (Gloucester, England) finished second at 9:49.51. Mizzou received an outstanding second leg from Ashford, who ran his 400m leg in 46.06, which would rank third on Mizzou's all-time top-10 list if ran in an individual event.
In the women's hammer throw, McClendon produced a mark of 58.59m (192-2) to finish third. The third-place finish is McClendon's fifth top-three finish in six meets this season, as she has won the event in four meets.
In the men's 100m dash, Clarke clocked a time of 10.54 and Graves a 10.57 to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
UP NEXT
With the conclusion of the Drake Relays, Mizzou wraps up the regular season and will now transition to postseason competition, beginning with the SEC Outdoor Championships, May 9-11, in Fayetteville, Ark. Following the SEC meet, Mizzou will compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships (May 23-25 in Sacramento, Calif.) and NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 5-8 in Austin, Texas).
