Tigers move up, but cannot advance to match play format
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Mizzou Women's Golf team improved one place in the team standings today in the final round of stroke play at the 2019 SEC Golf Championship, but it wasn't enough to advance to the weekend, as the Tigers' run at Greystone Golf & Country Club came to an end with a 12th place finish.
Mizzou began the day in 13th, six shots shy of the top eight cutline to qualify for match play, and at one point got to within three shots of eighth, but ultimately finished eight shots off the pace after a team score of 303 put them 12th with a three-day total of 900 (299-298-303). With its regular season over, Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's squad will now wait to see if they receive a bid to the NCAA Regionals.
Senior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) was the standout of the day for the Tigers, as she led the way by firing an even-par 72 Friday. Hendrickson knocked three shots off her previous career best at the SEC Championship (a third-round 75 in 2018) and moved up 13 spots in the individual standings to finish in a tie for 47th place with her three-day 227 total (78-77-72). She carded three of five birdies produced by Tiger players Friday, as she played her final 17 holes in two-under par following an opening-hole double bogey on the par-four 10th.
Senior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) and junior Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) were the top overall finishers for the Tigers, as they both tied for 41st with identical 54-hole 226 totals. Yuen (73-76-77) shot a final-round 77 Friday (including a birdie on her final hole), while Allen (73-72-81) got around in 81 strokes today, after leading the team with an even-par 72 Thursday.
Senior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) finished Friday at six-over par 78, and tied with Hendrickson in 47th place overall with her three-day score of 227 (76-73-78). Kim shaved an impressive 24 shots off her 251 total at last year's SEC Championship.
Freshman Keagan Dunn (Braselton, Ga.), making her first appearance at the SEC Championship, tied for 61st overall with a three-round total of 233, after she shot a four-over par 76 Friday to mark her best round of the tournament (77-80-76). Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-five sixth hole.
