Netherlands Native and Former Dutch Champion will Transfer in from Florida Tech
COLUMBIA, MO. – The University of Missouri Women's Golf program has added Netherlands native and former Dutch youth champion Noelle Beijer (Assendelft, The Netherlands) to its program, as announced today. Beijer, currently a sophomore at the Florida Institute of Technology, will transfer to join the Mizzou program at the conclusion of this spring season, as Tech (currently ranked 18th in the latest Division II poll) is disbanding their women's golf program. She will have two years of eligibility remaining as a Tiger.
Beijer (pronounced BAY-err) has a scoring average of 76.33 over her collegiate career thus far at Florida Tech. She's got one collegiate title on her resume, as she won medalist honors at the 2018 World Golf Invitational with a five-under par two-round total of 139 (71-68). She was an accomplished youth player in her homeland, winning the Dutch championship (U-15 division) in 2010, in addition to winning a World Golf Invitational tournament title in 2018 as well as the 2016 Austria Junior Open.
Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer is excited to add a player with the experience level of Beijer to her program.
"We are so excited to be able to bring Noelle in as part of our family," said Priesmeyer. "It's such a bonus to bring someone in of her caliber and experience level; she will bring a lot to our program. When it was announced that Florida Tech would be dropping their program, Noelle reached out to us and we quickly learned that she would be a great fit here at Mizzou. We love her attitude, her passion and her desire to work hard to get better every day. Noelle has great athleticism and length, which will serve her well on the courses we compete on each week, and she will help add a veteran touch to what will be a pretty young roster next year," she said.
Both Mizzou golf programs have ties to the Netherlands, which Priesmeyer believes helped attract Beijer to Columbia. Former women's golfer Marit Harryvan (2016-18) hailed from Winschoten, Netherlands, while current men's golfer Ricky Sanders' hometown is The Hague, Netherlands.
"I'm very excited about being part of Mizzou," said Beijer. "I felt so welcomed by everyone I've met during this process, it just seems like everything I'm looking for with the coaching staff, the team chemistry, the facilities, the school, the city, all of that, and I can't wait to get there," she said.
Beijer has an interest in studying international business at Mizzou. She was named a member of the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, and has represented her team on the Florida Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Committee each of her two years there.
