COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball (13-12, 2-4) fell to Bradley (14-11, 2-1), 8-1, at Mizzou Softball Stadium on Wednesday evening. Mizzou's only run came from a solo shot off the bat of freshman SS Jazmyn Rollin in the first inning.
Sophomore P Cassie Gasper started the game for the Tigers, as she put in three innings of work, while recording two strikeouts and giving up three runs. Junior Eli Daniel, sophomore Summer Shockley and redshirt senior Madi Norman came in as relief pitchers. Norman recorded one strikeout and didn't allow any hits in her appearance. All pitchers combined for seven strikeouts in total.
TOP TIGERS
- Rollin recorded the Tiger's only run of the game as she drilled a solo homerun to center field in the top of the first inning. She now has five home runs on the year, good for fourth among SEC freshmen.
- Norman pitched one inning and allowed no runs, no hits and recorded one strikeout. It marked the fourth time this season she didn't allow a run.
TURNING POINT
After Mizzou opened the game with a homerun in the first inning from Rollin, the Bradley pitchers quieted the Mizzou offense for the remainder of the game, allowing no more runs and only five total hits.
With the help of a two-run homerun in the top of the second, Bradley took the lead and didn't look back. A three-run homer in the fourth inning, two singles in the fifth, and a home run in the sixth added on extra insurance as Bradley defeated Mizzou 8-1.
