COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis head coach Colt Gaston announced the team's 2019-20 schedule on Friday. The fall slate is highlighted by the eighth annual Mizzou Invite, as well as five other tournaments, while the spring schedule features 25 matches, including 16 home matches at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
Mizzou kicks off the fall with the eighth annual Mizzou Invite, Sept. 20-22, at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. The Tigers welcome SMU, Houston and Tulsa for the tournament, which has no dual format, but rather individual singles players and doubles pairings will match up with opponents from each program. Admission to all matches is free.
The squad then travels to the ITA All-American Championships, Oct. 5-13 in Tulsa, Okla. Next, Mizzou heads to Norman, Okla., for the ITA Central Regional, Oct. 17-22, before playing in the FIU Fall Invite, Nov. 1-3, in Miami, Fla. The Tigers close out the fall schedule at the ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, Calif. and the Orlando Invite (Jan. 10-12).
The spring schedule begins with four-match home stand, as Mizzou hosts back-to-back doubleheaders, as Western Illinois for a doubleheader on Jan. 25, followed by Missouri State and Saint Louis on Jan. 31. It will be the first of two home stands for Mizzou during the nonconference season, as Mizzou also hosts Wichita State (Jan. 7), Old Dominion (Jan. 9), Bradley (Jan. 9), and a doubleheader with Southeast Missouri State (Jan. 15).
Mizzou will make two road trips during the nonconference portion of its schedule, heading to Kansas State (Feb. 2) and Minnesota (Feb. 23). The Tigers will also take on Memphis in a neutral site matchup in Minneapolis on Feb. 22.
Mizzou opens the SEC schedule with home matches in four of its first five contests, beginning with Mississippi State on Feb. 28. Following a road trip to LSU (March 1), Mizzou will then welcome Arkansas (March 8), Kentucky (March 13) and Vanderbilt (March 15) to Columbia.
Next, Mizzou will hit the road for road matches against Florida (March 20) and South Carolina (March 22), followed by a return home for matches against Alabama (March 27) and Auburn (March 29). Mizzou will open the month of April on the road against Georgia (April 3), Tennessee (April 5) and Texas A&M (April 9) before ending its schedule at home against Ole Miss (April 11). The 2020 SEC Tournament will take place April 15-19 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
