COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Cross Country announced the team's 2019 schedule on Thursday, which features two home meets in Columbia, including the first ever meet at the newly minted Gans Creek Recreation Area. Mizzou will compete in five regular season meets before the start of postseason competition, which will include trips to Lexington, Ky., Stillwater, Okla., and Terre Haute, Ind.

"This is the type of schedule that will allow us to get battle tested for the postseason," said head coach Marc Burns. "We are thrilled to be hosting two home meets this year. The new course at Gans Creek is amazing and will be a venue where we can host major championship meets at in the future. The team is excited to be able to race in front of the home crowd and bring big time cross country back to Columbia."

Mizzou will open the season by hosting the Mizzou Cross Country Opener at LA Nickell Golf Course on Friday, August 30, which will serve as Mizzou's first home meet since 2014. Following its season opener, the Tigers will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the Commodore Classic on Saturday, Sept. 14. Mizzou last competed at the Classic in 2017, where the women finished third and the men finished seventh.

Next, Mizzou will return to Columbia to debut the newly crafted Gans Creek Recreation Area on Friday, Sept. 27 for the Mizzou Cross Country Challenge. Before the start of the meet, Mizzou Athletics and the city of Columbia will come together for a dedication at 4:00 p.m. CT. The course will serve as the future home of the MSHSAA Cross Country Championships and the 2021 SEC Championships.

Mizzou will then wrap up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 18, as the squads will split up with student-athletes competing at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., and the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill.

Mizzou will begin postseason competition with the SEC Championships in Lexington, Ky. on Friday, Nov. 1. Both men and women logged a fifth-place finish in last year's championships. The women's performance marked the third consecutive top-five finish for the program.

Following the SEC Championships, the teams will travel to Stillwater, Okla. on Friday, Nov. 15 for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. There, the teams hope to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be hosted in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 23.
