Former Tigers Laemmler, Reedy to Compete at World University Games

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Mizzou swimming and diving student-athletes Nadine Laemmler and Lauren Reedy are set to compete at the 2019 World University Games, held July 3-14 in Naples, Fla. Laemmler will represent Germany in swimming, while Reedy will dive for the United States.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Mizzou swimming and diving student-athletes Nadine Laemmler and Lauren Reedy are set to compete at the 2019 World University Games, held July 3-14 in Naples, Fla. Laemmler will represent Germany in swimming, while Reedy will dive for the United States. 

Reedy, who also competed at the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju City, South Korea, will compete on 1-meter and 3-meter springboards. 1-meter prelims are set for Wednesday, July 3, with 3-meter scheduled for Friday, July 5. 

The 2017 Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Year, Reedy concluded her Tiger career at the 2017 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. At the meet, she earned All-America honorable mention honors on both 1-meter and 3-meter with ninth-place finishes. She also claimed the SEC 1-meter crown this season and claimed honorable mention accolades as a junior in 2015. She ended her career as Mizzou's record holder on both springboards. A member of USA Diving's High Performance Tier One Squad, Reedy also competed at the 2018 FINA Grand Prix (Gold Coast) and 2017 FINA World Championships. 

An eight-time All-American for the Tigers, Laemmler will swim the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke at the Games. She opens competition with prelims of the 200m back on Thursday, July 4, while the 100m back will get underway on Saturday, July 6 and the 50m back on Monday, July 8.

A native of Wackersdorf, Bavaria, Germany, Laemmler placed seventh in the 100 back at both the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Championships. She also earned a pair of All-America honorable mention honors in the 200 back and claimed three first team honors as part of Mizzou relay teams. Missouri's 100 back record holder, Laemmler originally retired from swimming in early 2018 but returned to win two individual titles at December's German Short Course Championships.
