COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field All-Americans Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) and Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) each finished up competition at the U23 North American Central American Caribbean (NACAC) Athletic Championships in Mexico over the past weekend. Ward helped Team USA capture gold in the 4x100m relay and finished fourth in the long jump, while Vilches recorded a fifth-place finish in the high jump.
Ward began the week in the long jump on Friday, where he produced a mark of 7.97m (26-1.75) to finish fourth in the competition. The Tiger All-American then moved to the track on Saturday, as he was joined by Justin Hall, Marcus Parker and Darrell Singleton on Team USA's 4x100m relay team. Ward ran the anchor leg as the U.S. captured gold with a time of 40.03.
In the high jump on Sunday, Vilches finished fifth with a mark of 2.16m (7-1). The Tiger freshman continued his run of clearing seven-feet in the high jump, as he has now done so in all seven of his outdoor meets this season.
