COLUMBIA, MO. – University of Missouri Assistant Women's Golf Coach Mindy Coyle (Bullard) has been named a 2019 recipient of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Wynn Award, and she will be honored at a banquet in Springfield, Mo. on March 27th.
The award is given annually to a handful of former high school and college standouts who have made positive impacts in their sport in the state of Missouri. Coyle, in her 13th year as an assistant coach for her alma mater, was a standout golfer at Mizzou who was runner-up at the 2003 Big 12 Championship and who helped lead the team in 2005 to the program's first-ever team appearance at the NCAA Championships.
"I would like to thank The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame for including me as a Wynn Award recipient," said Coyle. "It is a great honor to be in the company of so many well-known and well-respected athletes and supporters of women's sports. There is literally not one facet of my life that hasn't been touched in one way or another by this sport. It's helped me develop relationships with friends and family; given me an opportunity to earn two degrees; a job I love; a wonderful husband and two incredible baby girls."
"Golf has done so much for me that I sincerely welcome the obligation to share with and pass on the knowledge, opportunities and resources it has provided me over the years," Coyle added. "My hope is that each and every one of our athletes can feel the same way about our sport after they leave our program. If in the end they become positive role models and successful, contributing members of society then that's enough of an award for me," she said.
Prior to her time at Mizzou, Coyle was a pole vaulter and a four-time all-state golfer at Warrensburg High School, winning the individual title as a senior, while placing second, third and eighth in her other seasons there.
In addition to her coaching duties, where she has helped guide the Tigers to five NCAA Regional appearances, Coyle continued to play competitively post-college. In 2009 and 2010, she finished fifth and fourth, respectively, at the Missouri State Women's Amateur. She also won the Missouri Women's Mid-Amateur Championship in 2012 and 2013.
