COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field's redshirt junior Jordan McClendon (Black, Jack, Mo.) and freshman Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) each earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors for their performances at the Husker Invitational, announced by the league on Wednesday. McClendon earned Field Athlete of the Week honors following her second-place finish in the weight throw, while Prodanov earned Freshman of the Week honors after a fifth-place finish in the mile run.
McClendon finished second in the weight throw in Lincoln with a personal record throw of 21.76m (71-4.75), improving her No. 2 mark on Mizzou's all-time top-10 list. Her throw ranks seventh on the nation's leaderboard this season, and is the second-best throw by an SEC athlete. The Tiger junior has finish first or second in the weight throw in four of five meets this season, as she continues to approach Kearsten Peoples' 2015 school record mark of 22.84m (74-11.25).
Prodanov recorded the ninth-fastest mile run time in program history in his performance at the Husker Invitational, as he finished fifth with a time of 4:03.76. His time was also the second-fastest mile run ran by an SEC freshman this season, and the sixth-fastest by a freshman overall this season.
Mizzou will split its entries for this upcoming weekend, as the Tigers will have athletes competing at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
