
Alexander, Chadwick Named to 2018-19 USA Swimming National Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou junior Nick Alexander (St. Louis, Mo.) and former Tiger Michael Chadwick were named to the USA Swimming 2018-19 National Team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Alexander's inclusion marks his first year on the National Team, while Chadwick is on the team for the fourth-consecutive year.
The 2018-19 USA Swimming National Team features the top six athletes in each individual Olympic event based off the combined results of the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships, 2018 Pan Pacific Championships and 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships.
Alexander was the fifth-fastest American in the 200 back in 2018, notching a 1:57.18 in prelims at the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships in July. He ultimately finished eighth in the event at the Championships with a 1:58.49 in finals, and also posted finishes of 10th in the 100 back, 12th in the 50 back and 15th in the 200 IM at the meet.
As a sophomore in 2018, Alexander made placed fifth in the 200 back at the SEC Championships and made his first NCAA Championships appearance.
Chadwick made the National Team in the 50 free, the third time he made the team in that event. He finished fourth in the 50 free at the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships, as well as a fifth-place finish in the 100 free.
He concluded his collegiate career as the most decorated Tiger in program history in March. He is an 11-time first team and 11-time honorable mention All-American, with five of those first team honors coming as an individual, including four over the last two seasons. He finished second in the 100 free at the 2017 NCAA Championships in a school record time of 40.95, which also made him the event's fourth-fastest performer in history. Chadwick also placed fourth in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 breast at NCAAs and swam on Mizzou's third-place 400 medley relay, fourth-place 200 medley relay and seventh-place 200 free relay teams at the Championships.
