@MizzouSoccer suffers 1-0 loss to Northwestern

Tigers lose in overtime in first home game of the season

COLUMBIA, Mo. — @MizzouSoccer (1-2-1) suffered a loss in their home opener against Northwestern (4-0-1) in overtime, falling 1-0. The two teams battled it out into overtime, but a Kylie Fisher goal in the 93rd minute that bent into the upper right corner of the goal from outside the 18-yard box gave the Wildcats the narrow victory. Both teams saw plenty of scoring chances, with the Tigers tallying 13 shots while the Wildcats totaled 19.

TURNING POINT

During a four minute stretch during the middle of the second half, the Tigers had multiple chances to score but Northwestern freshman goalie Mackenzie Wood fought off all of Mizzou's scoring chances. Regular time featured a number of momentum swings but neither team could come up with a crucial tally.

After rallying back and forth during the first 90 minutes of play, the Wildcats ended the game with a strike from the edge of the 18-yard box. Sophomore midfielder Kylie Fisher recorded her first goal of the season, giving the Wildcats their fourth win of the 2018 campaign.
