Cross selected as one of 21 members to represent the Three Lionesses in France
COLUMBIA, Mo. – @MizzouSoccer sophomore Zoe Cross was named to England's FIFA Women's U20 World Cup roster today. Cross was chosen along with 20 others to compete for their home country in the FIFA Women's U20 World Cup from August 5 to August 24 in the Brittany region of France. Cross was one of five midfielders selected to play for the English squad.
England was drawn in Group B, alongside Brazil, Mexico and holders North Korea. The team travels to France this Thursday and opens with North Korea on Sunday, August 5. The group has vast experience in international competitions, including appearances in the UEFA U17 and U19 finals and a quarterfinals appearance in the FIFA Women's U17 World Cup in 2016. They needed a playoff to qualify for this go round at the World Cup, though, and Cross helped deliver, scoring a goal in their necessary win against Scotland last August.
Cross played a lot for Mizzou in what was her freshman season, seeing run in 19 games while starting nine for head coach Bryan Blitz. Cross registered two assists with eight shots on goal in her inaugural campaign with the Tigers.
