"We're excited about this upcoming season and honored that the league's coaches think so highly of the potential of this year's team," Mizzou Volleyball head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "There are a lot of excellent teams in the SEC and the league continues to get stronger every year. We have a lot of talent on our roster. Arguably, it's the most athletic from top to bottom that we've ever had at Mizzou. Having talent and winning are two different things however, but I think our players understand the challenges that lie ahead of us and we'll be ready to compete. We're anxious to get the 2018 season going!"

The Tigers, fresh off their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, have been one of the SEC's top programs since joining the conference in 2012. Mizzou has finished top-3 each of the past three seasons, highlighted by an SEC Championship in 2016. The Tigers have placed outside the top-4 only once in their six total years inside the SEC.
A season ago, Mizzou finished No. 20 in the final AVCA Coaches Poll. For the first time in program history, the Tigers ranked top-20 in the final national poll in consecutive seasons. Mizzou concluded its 2017 campaign ranked No. 16 following its second all-time SEC Championship and first of two back to back Sweet 16 runs.
Since taking the reins of Mizzou Volleyball in 2000, Wayne and Susan Kreklow have guided the Tigers to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, four trips to the Sweet 16 and one Elite 8 bid. Mizzou claimed SEC Championships in 2013 and 2016 and stand as Mizzou Athletics' lone regular season SEC titles.
