The Tigers will face 11 2017 NCAA Tournament teams
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Head Coach Bryan Blitz and the Mizzou soccer team announced its 2018 schedule on Tuesday. The slate is highlighted by nine home contests and regular season matchups with 11 teams that qualified for the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
The squad first hits the pitch for tor two exhibition matches at the beginning of August. They host Missouri State on Tuesday, Aug. 7, before a game at Oklahoma State on Friday, Aug. 10.
The Tigers officially start the 2018 season with a pair of road games in the state of Iowa. Missouri opens at Iowa on Friday, Aug. 17, followed by a match at Iowa State on Sunday, Aug. 19.
Mizzou then has one more road contest, a contest at Colorado on Saturday, Aug. 25, before opening the home portion of its schedule against two 2017 NCAA Tournament participants the following weekend. The squad hosts Northwestern on Thursday, Aug. 30 and TCU on Sunday, Sept. 2.
The Tigers face another 2017 NCAA team as they travel to Los Angeles, Calif., to face Southern Cal on Sept. 7. Missouri travels back across the country to host Gonzaga on Sunday, Sept. 9 in the first meeting between the two programs.
Missouri opens its 10-match SEC schedule on Thursday, Sept. 13 at home against Kentucky before Mizzou closes out non-conference action on Sunday, Sept. 16 at home against Portland State.
The Tigers then continue league action with a road match on Thursday, Sept. 20 at Georgia before a home contest on Sunday, Sept. 23 against Vanderbilt. The Commodores advanced to the second round of the 2017 Tournament.
Three-straight games against NCAA Tournament teams are then next for the Tigers, led by an away match at Arkansas on Thursday, Sept. 27. Missouri then hosts Ole Miss one week later on Thursday, Oct. 4, followed by a game at LSU on Sunday, Oct. 7.
Mizzou is then idle for a week until it hosts Auburn on Sunday, Oct. 14. The visiting Tigers made it to the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament before falling to Stanford, the eventual national champions.
Following a road contest at South Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 18, Mizzou returns home to host Florida in the home finale on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Gamecocks advanced to the 2017 College Cup, where they lost to Stanford in the semifinals. Florida made it to the Elite Eight, falling to South Carolina.
The Tigers then close the regular season at Tennessee on Thursday, Oct. 25.
