COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field senior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa) and redshirt senior Mark Sheridan (Ballwin, Mo.) were named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, announced by the conference office Thursday. In addition to full class schedules and a rigorous travel schedule for competitions, Schweizer and Sheridan were able to lead their team in hours devoted to the Columbia community during the 2017-18 academic year.
Schweizer led the women's squad with 36 volunteer hours, as she spent time at the SPLAT Mud Run, Hear of America Marathon, Susan G. Komen Race and the Columbia Food Bank. A role model to young girls in the Columbia community, Schweizer also helped coach a youth running club at a nearby school.
Sheridan led the team in volunteer hours on the men's side, accumulating more than 16 hours. Sheridan spent time at the Susan G. Komen Race, the Columbia Food Bank and high school track meets, where he amassed 12 of his service hours.
