
@MIZ_TrackField Records Four Event Wins at John McDonnell Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mizzou Track & Field produced four event wins and 11 top-three finishes on the final day of competition Saturday at the John McDonnell Invitational. All four of Mizzou's event wins came in field events, as junior Becky Keating (Reading, England) placed first in the hammer throw, junior Karissa Roman (Kewanee, Ill.) took first in the high jump, redshirt junior Will Fife (Jefferson City, Mo.) finished first in the shot put and sophomore Allie Webb (Platte City, Mo.) placed first in the javelin.
NOTABLE TIGERS
Keating was the first Tiger to win an event win Saturday, as she posted a throw of 58.58m (192-2) in the hammer throw with her fourth toss. It is Keating's third event win in four meets this season, as she also placed first in the hammer throw at the CMU Open (March 17) and Arkansas Spring Invitational (March 23).
In the women's high jump, Roman place first as the lone competitor to clear 1.70m (5-7). The event win is her second of the season after she also won the high jump at the Ole Miss Classic (March 31). Junior Valeria Kostiuk (Kiev, Ukraine) finished fourth in the event with a clearance of 1.65m (5-5).
Mizzou finished first and third in the men's shot put, as Fife posted a mark of 17.82m (58-5.75) to finish first, while redshirt junior Avery Carter (Lee's Summit, Mo.) finished third at 16.46m (54-0). In the women's javelin, Mizzou first and second, as Webb produced a mark of 43.74m (143-6), while freshman Megan Haley (Lancaster, Mo.) finished second at 40.05m (131-4).
Other notable finishes on the track included a trio of third-place finishes, two in 800m invitational heats as redshirt freshman Karina Liz (Aurora, Ill.) crossed the finish line with a personal record time of 2:10.78, while freshman Chris Conrad (O'Fallon, Ill.) finished at 1:51.26. Making his season debut in the 400m hurdles, redshirt senior Jerrad Mason (Bridgetown, Barbados) finished third at 52.25.
UP NEXT
Mizzou will now return to Columbia for its lone home meet of the outdoor season, as the Tigers host the 20th Tom Botts Invitational, April 20-21 at Audrey J. Walton Stadium. Events will start at 4:30 p.m. (CT) on Friday, and 11:30 a.m. (CT) on Saturday. Tickets to the meet can be purchase online or by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS.
