GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Mizzou Tennis Team continued its run through the gauntlet of the SEC Saturday morning at the Ring Tennis Complex, facing its ninth straight ranked opponent. No. 12 Florida scored a 4-0 win to remain in the SEC title hunt.
The Gators (14-5, 9-1) won the doubles point by taking the matches on Courts 2 and 3 by identical 6-2 scores.
Mizzou (11-12, 0-9) moved to singles, where freshman Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) won her second set at No. 6, 6-1. Senior co-captain Amina Ismail (Maineville, Ohio) was close to winning her second set as well at No. 3, but both matches were suspended once the clinching match at No. 5 ended the dual.
UP NEXT
Mizzou returns to Columbia for its final two home matches of the 2018 season next weekend. The Tigers welcome No. 15 Auburn on Friday at 3 p.m., then celebrate Senior Day with Ismail and co-captain Clare Raley (Atlanta, Ga.) vs. Alabama on Sunday at Noon.
