COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball senior MB Alyssa Munlyn and sophomore OH Kylie Deberg were named 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Americans, announced Wednesday by the organization's office.
Munlyn becomes the first Tiger in program history to garner four AVCA All-America accolades. She surpasses former three-time All-America honorees in Carly Kan (2013-14, '16) and Lisa Henning (2011-13). Deberg garnered her first career All-America recognition following a standout first-year campaign at Mizzou.
Since 2000 and under the tutelage of Wayne Kreklow and Susan Kreklow, the Tigers have produced 22 total AVCA All-America awards. Mizzou has recorded at least one All-America winner in nine consecutive seasons. Wednesday's announcement also marks the fifth time Mizzou has accumulated multiple All-America winners in a single-season (2005, '13, '15-16, '18).
"Once again, we're very happy for both Alyssa and Kylie for receiving this recognition," Coach Kreklow said. "It speaks volumes about their work ethic and commitment to excellence. It also speaks to the performance of the team this year as well, as we all know that individual recognitions for outstanding performances would be impossible without great teammates."

In the past weeks, Munlyn became just Mizzou's third-ever four-time AVCA All-Region recipient and its first-ever four-time All-SEC award honoree. The Suwanee, Georgia, native tallied her 600th career total block early in the 2018 campaign, becoming only one of six SEC players since 2001 to eclipse the impressive total.
Munlyn routinely excelled against top tier competition this year, including 41 kills on .402 hitting against teams ranked top 25 at the time Mizzou played them, 69 kills on .431 hitting against AVCA Top 50 teams and 163 kills on .405 hitting with 1.11 blocks per set versus AVCA Top 100 programs.
She departs Mizzou as the program's all-time leader in career total blocks (634), block assists (516), blocks per set (1.27) and hitting (.388).

Also receiving 2018 AVCA Southeast All-Region and All-SEC accolades, Deberg evolved into one of the SEC's and NCAA's top offensive threats in her first season in Tiger black and gold. The Hudson, Iowa, native performed well against top competition this year, including 10-plus kills in six of seven Mizzou's matches versus nationally ranked squads.
Arguably her season highlight occurred in the Tigers' thrilling five-set win at No. 11 Florida (Oct. 21), as she recorded a then career-best 21 kills. Deberg also tallied double-digit kills in nine of 10 Mizzou's matches versus AVCA Top 50 teams and 10-plus kills in 21 of 23 Mizzou's matches against AVCA Top 100 programs.
Her 59 aces this year ranked third all-time in Mizzou single-season history. It stood as the most aces by a Tiger in a single season since 2002. Her 522 total points were the most by a Tiger since 2016. Deberg was a model of offensive consistency this season, producing 10-plus kills in 28 of 32 overall matches played.
