Women's Golf Closes Fall Season in Mexico

The Tigers are coming off a seventh-place team finish at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, where they beat six higher-ranked teams overall, including three ranked in the top 50.

The University of Missouri Women's Golf team is heading south of the border for their final tournament of the fall season, as Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's squad will compete Nov. 2-4 in the Battle at the Beach at Club Campestre in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico.  The 17-team tournament field is stacked with 10 teams ranked among the nation's top-60, according to the latest Golf Stat poll, including three top-10 and three more top-25 programs.

The Tigers are coming off a seventh-place team finish at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, where they beat six higher-ranked teams overall, including three ranked in the top 50.  Following that performance, Mizzou enters this week ranked 56th in the Golfweek rankings, and 60th according to the Golf Stat rankings.

Junior Jess Yuen, as expected, has led the way for the Tigers in the fall, as Mizzou's number one player has lived up to that billing.  The Bolingbrook, Ill. native has notched top-20 finishes in each of the four fall tournaments thus far, and has finished third in each of the last two outings.  In all, Yuen has been under par in eight of her last nine rounds, and is 66th in the latest Golf Stat individual rankings.

Senior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) has shown the ability to go low in the number two spot, and has the only win on the year for Mizzou, when she claimed her first collegiate medalist honor in October when she won the 2018 Johnie Imes Invitational with a five-under par 211 total (67-71-73).  She reached a career milestone last week in San Marcos, when she recorded her 100th round played as a Tiger.

Junior Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) is playing some of her best golf as a Tiger, as she's recorded consecutive top-25 individual finishes in her last two tournaments, including a career-best tie for 6th at the Johnie Imes, followed by a tie for 23rd last week at the Jim West, where she finished second in the MU lineup.  In her last six rounds, Otter has found a nice groove to her game, as she is just three over par combined, after beginning her fall at 33 over par in her first five rounds.

Senior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) is third on the team this fall with her stroke average of 74.55.  She has a pair of top-25 finishes under her belt so far, including a career-best 4th-place showing at the Johnie Imes, when she fired a career-best 214 over three rounds (72-71-71).  Fellow senior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) is right behind Hendrickson with her fall stroke average of 74.82, and has been very consistent so far, as she has finished third on the team in three of Mizzou's four tournaments.
